Corpron rocks 11th Annual Legend Thunder at Montana Raceway Park

Kalispell, Mont. (7-1-12)- Points, money, and positions at Legend Nationals in Atlanta, GA were on the mind of the Legend drivers Saturday evening at Montana Raceway Park.  CHS and Coors Light presented the 11 annual running of Legend Thunder, a regional event showcasing INEX Legend cars all fighting for a chance to qualify for Legend Nationals.  Saturday night also featured the Bandoleros, Hornets, and Lucas Oil Super Stocks.

Ryan Krause kicked off his night by setting fast time in the Hornets.  Tyler Volkman beat out Dennis Galloway to win the Trophy Dash.  Volkman went on to win the heat race.  The main event the Hornet main was won on the track by Kyle Basler, but Basler has been a multi-time champion in the division and is running for no points or position in the main events this season.  This disqualified Basler’s win and allowed Keith Sheppard to take the win and extend his points lead by 14 points over Ryan Krause.

In the Lucas Oil Super Stock division Brandon Sickler set the charge by setting fast time for the night.  Adam Kinkel took the Trophy Dash and B Heat race wins.  Kalispell Toyota Super Late Model driver Bodie Morton, who co-owns a Lucas Oil Super Stock with Scott Lee won the A heat Race.  Kinkel started on the pole for the 30 lap main event.  Sickler started midpack and marched to the front to challenge Kinkel in five laps.  The pair fought for position with Sickler overtaking Kinkel on lap 9.  Tyler Corpron and Morton made a charge to second and third position to try and chase down Sickler.  While Corpron and Morton battled for position Sickler continued to advance his lead.  Sickler took the checkers with an 8 second advantage over Corpron who came in second.  Morton rolled in Third.  Sickler continues to lead the point series by 7 over Corpron.

In the Bandolero Division the Denney Brothers continue to dominate.  Brock Denney took fast time for the night.  Bryce Denney took the Trophy Dash and the Heat Race.  In the main event Brock Denney triumphed over his younger brother Bryce, who came in second, and Isaiah Sickler who rounded out third.  All three drivers received coats, prizes, and trophies for taking part in Legend Thunder.  This division is setup for younger people to get a start in Auto Racing.  The cars are a fabricated chassis, running Briggs and Stratton engines, and are very easy to work on and setup.  For more information on how to get your son or daughter in the division call the track office.

The CHS Legend division rocked the house for Legend Thunder.  Tyler Corpron set overall fast time for the night.  The Legends are divided into three separate divisions depending on age and years of competition.  Dalton Halden claimed the trophy dash win for the younger Semi-pro Division.  Dave Daughtry took the Masters Division Trophy dash.  For the Pro Division Corpron claimed the Trophy Dash win.  In the B- Heat Darrel Buckingham from Canada took the checkers.  Wrango West claimed the A Heat win.  All three divisions of Legend Cars converged in the main event for a 50 lap shoot out.  Scott Moore set the pace for the field and started on the pole.  He was quickly passed by Tyler Corpron.  Dave Daughtry started in second position and battled throughout the race.  After some mid and late race crashes the drivers settled in.  Corpron dominated the main event and took home first place and qualified for a spot in Nationals.  Daughtry finished second in the event, but first place in the Master division.  Dalton Halden rounded out the top three in the race and claimed first place in the Semi-pro division.  Top three in the Semi Pro division included Dalton Halden, Hal Rogers, and Tristan Corpron.  In the Master Division top three were Dave Daughtry, Scott Dalla, and Darrel Buckingham.  The Pro Division top three included Tyler Corpron, Wrango West, and Scott Moore.  Tyler Corpron leads the CHS Legend points chase by two points over Dalton Halden.
