Final Super Late Model event before the Coors Light Montana 200 this Saturday

Kalispell, Mont. (6/20/12) – Racers in the Kalispell Toyota Super Late Model Division are eagerly awaiting Saturday evening.  After the drivers had one of their six events during the 2012 season cancelled by inclement weather everyone is ready for some hard charging racing action.  This will be the last chance that drivers have to test their cars during racing conditions before the 22nd Annual Coors Light Montana 200, held July 19-21, 2012.

Ryan Wells from Hingham, MT leads the Kalispell Toyota point’s series by two points over Bodie Morton.  With only one race in the book for the 2012 season the points chase is wide open for the division.  Last weekend Wells and Morton made the trip to Stateline, Idaho for a non-points event.  Wells set fast time in the time trials.  Rain again played havoc for the drivers causing the main event to end early.  Wells came in third and Morton rolled in fifth.  Another Flathead Valley driver that we have not seen compete in the 2012 season, Troy Schweigert made the haul to Idaho to prep his car for this weekend.

125 laps of main event Kalispell Toyota Super Late Model racing will be featured this Saturday evening as Napa and Twisted Tea present the Canadian/American Shootout 125.  After making a nice showing in the first race of the season, but coming up empty handed local driver’s Wrango West, Bodie Morton, Alex Lessor, and Corey Wolfe will be back to challenge again.  A number of drivers from the west and north will be making the haul to Montana for this larger Late Model event.  David Garber, Todd and Braedon Havens, and Jeff Little will make the trip from Spokane.  Chris Skelton, Trevor Emond, Tim Elliot, and Tim Johnson will be some of the Canadians making the trip from north of the border.

The Don K Hobby Stocks and Flathead Beacon Bombers will also be running this Saturday.  Coming off a big win during the Hobby Stock 50, Dustin Martel leads the point’s series by one point over Marvin Stone.  With the Hobby Stock division continuing to grow Martel will have to stay on top of his game Saturday night.  Bill McCallum continues to lead the Flathead Beacon Bomber points.  He currently sits two points ahead of Chris Warburton, who had a disappointing finish last weekend after tech officials found his car in violation of the division rules.  Kyle Koehler, the second year Bomber driver has been coming on strong during the first four events of the season.  Last weekend Kohler gave McCallum a run for his money grabbed the checkers.  Keep an eye on Warburton and Koehler as both look to advance in the points this weekend.

Time trials begin at 6pm and racing begins at 7pm.  For information and tickets log onto montanaracewaypark.com, call 406-257-RACE (7223), or like us on Facebook.
